I would encourage any parent of teacher to invest in the Galore Park range; the books are fun, clear and easy to use for children and adults alike - I'm using the Spanish book on a daily basis myself!

A very well laid-out coursebook. A mixture of the traditional and the innovative: the author has managed to answer the needs of many teachers of Spanish: how to keep the whole ability range involved whilst building on a solid base of structures.

I really like the book; the balance, the presentation, the explanations (clear and forthright, not patronising the learner), the readiness to move away from the conventions which limit many current text books. There is a large amount of interesting and useful material, clearly presented.

I warmly recommend this book as an introduction to the Spanish language and culture. It is exciting, challenging and functional.

We have just started using it and it is the best Spanish book of its kind that I have come across. We will certainly work through the SYRWTL Spanish books as we will be doing GCSE or IGCSE.

I am using this with my children and really enjoy it. It is very similar to So you really want to learn French and Latin Prep (We use these as well) in its focus on grammar. Like So you really want to learn French, it has the student reading, writing, and responding in Spanish. There are longer passages which they need to read aloud (or have read to them..I don't have the CD) and interpret just like in So you really want to learn French and Latin Prep. I would say this set is for slightly older children though. It moves faster than the French textbook and there is more vocabulary to learn. If you or your student doesn't know any Spanish it might slow your progress. I do still recommend it. The best ages I think might be 11 with no Spanish knowledge but who is motivated or anyone 13 or older. I think this largely depends on the child and parent teaching it. If the parent is willing to make this a priority and not drop it when the schedule gets complicated then both can make good progress. I speak Spanish fluently and when looking for something to use with my children everything disappointed me. When I came to Galore Park's Spanish I was and still am overjoyed. I am using it with an extremely motivated 11 year old. We are more than half way through Book 1 and soon I will start my daughter reading some of her favorite books in Spanish. She already reads many of our favorite picture books to her brothers in Spanish. Before beginning this series she knew the vocabulary but I could not get her to speak it. This program made the difference. Honestly I have found nothing else that teaches Spanish this thoroughly.

The grammar is extremely well presented and practised and it is not offered in a piecemeal fashion but laid out in a structured way followed by much varied practice. There is, therefore, a lot of material for a mixed ability group with the possibility of extending the more able learner.

I am much impressed with the clear uncluttered lay out, the detailed expalanations in English of grammar and the fact that points are introduced as a natural whole (eg the full present conjugation rather than the first person in one chapter and so on). Most of all it is a delight to see so much useful exploitation of key material, through translation gap filling etc.

An excellent book! With plenty of exercises to keep even the most able pupil busy, a well-structured presentation of the grammar and high-quality audio material, this course has enthused our pupils.
