Paul Nicholl, Head of History, Handcross Park School - 19 Feb 2009
The introduction of So you really want to learn History Books 1 & 2 has been a wonderful bonus to my teaching my pupils this year. The books are so colourful and relevant, sitting alongside my own History notes very comfortably. We are also enjoying the Junior History series lower down the school.

Tim Johnson, Attain magazine - 11 Sep 2008
The layout of the book is excellent - clear and approachable with very good illustrations ... An excellent series and well worth purchasing to get your child interested in history but - be warned - you will almost certainly end up reading it yourself first.

Chris Brazier Evans in the SATIPS broadsheet, Spring 2008 - 18 Mar 2008
After reading this book I did enjoy its chronological approach, as this style is able to give the students the chance to view the subject of history in its context. This differs from most textbooks that support the National Curriculum, as they do not generally follow this style of approach. Bob has tried to maintain both the development of the story and at the same time try to develop various historical skills. This is aided by having a variety of different activities at the end of each section, whcih can be accessed by children across the ability range. I particularly liked the early use of a variety of sources, as som eof my students do not use sources to their full extent when it comes to Common Entrance. I was also pleased to see the use of a variety of historical terms and vocabulary, with key words highlighted and explained.

This is an excellent opportunity to add my appreciation of Bob Pace for his new So you really want to learn History 1 book. My daughter loves it and I am so glad to have found a book with such clear structure and yet with pace and vitality. In fact we have found all our Galore Park books to have this 'never a dull moment' characteristic.

Andy Livermore, Head of History, Ludgrove School - 3 Dec 2007
Just a note to say congratulations on such a helpful text book. It is reassuring that it is produced with Common Entrance in mind. I find other text books to be miscellaneous in their content and very hard to relate directly to what I want to teach C.E. candidates. This excellent resource backs up perfectly what I am trying to achieve. It is reassuring for the teacher as to what sort of knowledge the pupils should be including in their essays. I feel this book allows me to have the freedom to still tell stories in lessons but it just helps to shape and inform teacher and pupil what is required. Having the examiner advise on content and technique when it comes to C.E. is obviously helpful and very reassuring. We love it at Ludgrove.

Andy Southgate, Moulsford School - 19 Nov 2007
My entire budget in one hit but well worth it. These textbooks will supplement all of my resources superbly as they are tailor-made for Common Entrance. A must-have for all devotees of the Pink Paper.

Richard Sutton, Cothill House School - 19 Nov 2007
The Medieval Realms textbook has been a great success - it is the first textbook that is actually relevant and tailored to the course. It is well laid-out and informative, with many useful excercises and exam tips. I have used it recently for Edward I, John and Henry II. It certainly needed to be written!

Gill David, Head of History, St Catherine's School, Bramley - 9 Oct 2007
At last! A book which isn't completely dumbed down, which doesn't try to fit momentous events onto a double page spread and which 'tells a story' in a very engaging manner. As soon as we saw it we all felt it would be the ideal book to use with our very bright girls who actually want to know more, not less and it also fulfils the teachers' requirements too i.e. it is meaty, the text picks out the salient points and the exercises are a good blend of source based and consolidation of knowledge and understanding type exercises.

Paul Nicholl, Handcross Park School - 2 Oct 2007
The best history book that I have seen in 35 years of teaching!

Niall Murphy, Radley College - 20 Aug 2007
Bob Pace's Medieval Realms book is excellent - whether purely as an introduction to the Middle Ages in Britain or as a text for use in conjunction with the National Curriculum or Common Entrance. He covers the period from the Battle of Hastings through the Hundred Years' War to the Wars of the Roses, whilst also delving into the feudal system, castles, churches, monasteries and architecture. Other important issues are also covered, from life in the towns to medieval health care and the Black Death. There are summary questions and tasks for pupils within the chapters, which are all geared towards Common Entrance success. Above all it is a great read, and will certainly whet the appetite for this period of History."

Paul Spencer, Port Regis School - 16 Aug 2007
Well-written and richly detailed narrative to encourage clear understanding of the main events and issues of medieval times, and well-structured class and individual exercises to prompt the development of key subject skills make this a valued textbook as the pupil moves through the Common Entrance course.
