Revision and practice with a sweet reward - Competition open!
By Natalie Bailey
24 Mar
The Easter break is a point for many when Common Entrance revision cranks up a notch; so, to bring Easter and revision together, we have launched our competition, Revision and practice with a sweet reward, today!*

We are asking parents to share their top revision tip with the hashtag #GaloreParkTips on Facebook or Twitter and, in return, we are offering the chance to win a luxury Easter egg and set of Galore Park revision resources. We will choose our six favourite tips, and the winner will then be selected by our partner, SchoolGuide. Our five lucky runners-up will also be rewarded with chocolatey treats – an ideal revision incentive!

Victoria Bond, Founder and CEO for SchoolGuide had this to say: "1000s of parents come to SchoolGuide every month and they tell us that the Easter school holidays is the key time for revision. It really is make or break – and this competition from Galore Park makes the reward of working hard even sweeter. Tried and tested revision resources and chocolate too!"

So, whether you are preparing for 11+, Pre-Tests or 13+ Common Entrance, here are our top Easter holiday revision tips to get you started …

Preparation

  • Consolidate knowledge and revisit content covered as part of the syllabus by using revision guides.
  • Use Practice Papers and Workbooks to increase confidence and perfect exam technique by applying knowledge learned in the Revision Guide to a variety of exam paper styles under time pressure.
  • Once timing and technique has improved, practise with real ISEB past papers for a true exam experience – eliminating the on-the-day fear factor!

Get the best out of your brain
  • Take regular breaks and exercise. Refresh your brain and take a walk – your brain works much better with plenty of oxygen.
  • Review. After a break, review the areas you learned before.
  • Eat healthily. Yes, this one is slightly trickier at this time of year, but try to slot some fruit and veg in between those chocolate breaks! Your brain will function better with good fuel.
  • Think positive thoughts and keep calm. A stressed brain will not operate effectively, so try to stay relaxed and tell your brain you want to study – it works!

We look forward to reading your top revision tips – make sure you enter before 31 March!

*Competition ends 31/3/16, entrants must be aged 18 or over. The prizes are as stated, are not transferable to another individual and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The promoters reserve the right to amend or alter the terms of competitions and reject entries from entrants not entering into the spirit of the competition.
